The parliament has reportedly postponed summoning two former chiefs of the Financial Investigation Unit (FIU), the investigative arm of central bank Maldives Monetary Authority.

The parliament secretariat last week summoned former FIU head Athif Shakoor and his successor Abdulla Ashraf for a sitting this week.

While Athif had resigned in 2015, Ashraf had in 2018 forwarded a case over large deposits into an account held by then president Abdulla Yameen, resulting in his termination from the helm of the FIU.

The two individuals are being summoned over the Anti-Corruption Commission’s report on their investigation in 2015 into embezzlement from the state-run Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation.

MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa, representing north-Kulhudhuffushi, told RaajjeMV on Tuesday that their questioning has been delayed for a sitting next week.
