Two senior officials of Maldives Immigration have been suspended following the commencement of an investigation, confirms Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Immigration head Hameed Fathuhullah and assistant controller Abdulla Waheed were suspended on February 20.

CSC Director General Abdulla Saeed revealed that they had begun their investigation on February 21.

He further stated that officials will be suspended if a situation arises where officials are believed to influence the investigation.

RaajjeMV understands that their salaries have not been withheld.

Immigration Controller Mohamed Ahmed Hussain earlier revealed that the investigation is being conducted upon their request and that relevant documents have been handed over to the CSC.

Hussain also said that the Immigration did not follow procudure during the previous administration of President Abdulla Yameen.
