A dead body with gruesome injuries has been found in Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll.

Hussain Simad, 39, native to Addu island was found dead with injuries northward of the island.

Simad was married to a woman native to Villingili and was found dead by police officers patrolling in the region at around 7am on Sunday.

Police are yet to reveal the extent of the injuries on his body there causes.

According to relatives, a missing person report was filed twice on Saturday night, however island residents had not been informed of the missing person report.

Citing island residents who had seen his body, RaajjeTV journalist Hussain Hassan reported that he had burn marks on his neck and there were signs of stabbing in his eyes. The body also had multiple scrapes all over.

According to the family, Simad had recevied death threats a few months back in regards to a case involving a robbery onboard a safari.

Simad, a local fisherman leaves behind one child.

While the police are investigating Simad’s death, his body has been taken to Villingili Hospital.
