Members of the Dharavandhoo island in Baa atoll have on Wednesday shared issues of concern and future development projects with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

At a meeting held at the President’s Office on Wednesday afternoon, the council members shared issues surfacing for island residents due to a shortage of clean water and sanitation services.

In addition, council members added that the island needs the administration’s help in developing integrated tourism in Dharavandhoo.

Shedding light on issues arising due to the current island harbor, the members requested the government to develop the island’s airport.

Highlighting that the island residents also face electricity problems as well as lack of land for housing, the members noted that the youth of the island require a proper football field.

Assuring the members that his government will take the required action soon, President Solih stated that he will be holding discussion with his ministries in order to tackle the problems at hand.
