MDP has kept the promise made seven years ago: Nasheed

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has kept the promise it made seven years ago, former Maldivian president and founder of the party Mohamed Nasheed has said.
Nasheed said this in a tweet on Thursday, commemorating his party being in power after his government prematurely ended on February 7th, 2012.
Nasheed’s tweet translates to, ‘What MDP said seven years ago about persevering and never weakening our resolve and coming back to government has been achieved. We kept this promise with news of joy, with our #Agenda19. Vote for MDP, save the Maldives’.
The ‘Agenda 19’ refers to a series of landmark legislations that MDP will be submitting in parliament after the People’s Majlis election on April 6th.
On February 7th, 2012, Nasheed resigned from office amid violent protests in capital city Malé. Nasheed said that he was ousted through a military coup, and forced to resign at gunpoint.
After allegations of Nasheed being coerced into resigning were made public, further public dispute about the legality of his vice president Mohamed Waheed taking office emerged.
A Commission of National Inquiry was established by presidential decree to investigate the circumstances of the resignation, which investigated events from 14th of January 2012 until his resignation in February 7th.
The inquiry however held that there was not sufficient evidence to prove that Nasheed was coerced into resigning, although it was established that the process of resignation was interfered with and subsequent protocols having to do with the transfer of power were violated.
