MPS earlier revealed that 130kgs of drugs were seized during the past three years
 
Discovery was made at around 12pm on Tuesday

Packages packed with cannabis have been fished out from the reef in Thulhaadhoo of Baa atoll.

The discovery was made at around 12pm on Tuesday by a dinghy fishing off the reef, reports Maldives Police Service.

MPS media official reported that the four packages have been brought under police custody and officers are currently active in inspecting the area in which the packages were found.

Police are yet to reveal how much the package weighed.

Earlier, Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed had revealed that drugs and narcotics seized during the past three years amount to 130 kilograms, having stressed that the drug epidemic is detrimental to the local communities.
