China's assistance towards Maldives socio-economic development 'invaluable,' says president

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed deep gratitude for the “invaluable assistance” extended by China towards the Maldives socio-economic development over the years, in regard to the progress of Chinese commercial ventures and economic projects in the Maldives.

The President shared these sentiments during a courtesy call paid by Ambassador of China to the Maldives Zhang Lizhong to him at the President’s Office on Thursday morning.

President’s Office revealed that the pair had shared confidence that the coming years will witness an increasing number of tourist visits to the Maldives by Chinese nationals, further expressing their shared hope that the future years will witness strengthened cooperation on issues of mutual importance between both countries.

During the call, President Solih had conveyed assurance of his government’s commitment to maintain good relations with China.

Conveying warm wishes on behalf of the people and government of China to the people and government of Maldives, Ambassador Lizhong reaffirmed President Solih’s sentiment in regards to building the existing strong foundation of fruitful bilateral ties between Maldives and China.
