Attorney General’s Office issues directives for prosecutors

The directives were forwarded to prosecutors on 31st December

The Attorney General’s (AG) Office has this week issued directives for the Prosecutor General’s Office, which it said will allow for better rehabilitation of convicts.

The AG’s Office said in a statement on Tuesday that the directives were forwarded to prosecutors on 31st December.

The statement further said that the previous directives, issued in 2008, mostly defined what constitutes a crime and the procedures for prosecution.

Article 133 of the constitution says, ‘The Attorney General shall have power to issue general directives to the Prosecutor General on the conduct of criminal proceedings’.
