2018 rewrote Maldives history: ex-President Nasheed

The citizens chose the current government with a lot of hope in President Solih

Government pledges are just a list of debts owed to the citizens

Last year was one that rewrote Maldives history, states Former President Mohamed Nasheed.

Nasheed made this statement while speaking to attendees at the ceremony to launch Hassan Latheef’s campaign to contest for the Vilufushi seat in the Parliamentary Election.

The former President stated that in 2018, Maldivians had merged together to bring back democracy which had been eradicated during Abdulla Yameen’s administration. History was rewritten when former Yameen’s authoritarian government was ousted bcause of the determination of citizens.

Stating that his Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will not forget that the citizens chose the current government with a lot of hope in President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Nasheed revealed that the party is working hard to help the current government fulfill its pledges to the people.

The ruling party described housing as a huge responsibility of the political leaders. As such, Nasheed said that the pledges the current government has made is in fact, just a list of debts owed to the citizens, and that the ruling party will fulfill them.
