Maldives has signed an agreement with China, for the renovation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs' building complex in the capital.
The signing ceremony was held at the ministry on Saturday and was joined by senior officials from the ministry as well as the Embassy of China in the Maldives.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel signed the exchange of letters on behalf of the Government of Maldives while Ambassador of China to the Maldives Zhang Lizhong signed on behalf of China.

At the ceremony, State Minister Khaleel highlighted that the building in which the ministry is located in "is, and will always remain a symbol of the close and friendly relationship” between both countries.
According to the ministry, the purpose of the renovation is to find a solution to space shortage throughout the renovation work so as to better be able to serve the citizens.
