The press conference being held by former President Abdulla Yameen’s spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali on Wednesday night is not one that has been organized by the opposition Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM), RaajjeMV has learnt.

While the media was invited to the press conference that began at 8:45 pm in Mookai Hotel, declaring that it was held by PPM.

However, PPM’s Secretary General Mohamed Hussain Shareef has said that the party has not organized a press conference for Wednesday and that invitations from the party for such events will only be extended by either PPM Spokesperson Ali Arif, the leader, the deputy leader, or the party’s Parliamentary Group leader Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik.

Highlighting that members of the party have the liberty to give their own press briefings, SG Shareef stated that it must not be done under the party’s name.

Shareef confirmed to RaajjeMV that Wednesday night’s press conference has not been organized by the party, assuring that if the party were to hold such events, it will be held at the party’s head office.
