Management of the Hulhumalé Hospital has on Wednesday been transferred to the Ministry of Health.
Permanent Secretary Khadheeja Abdul Samad said that this transfer was made at the directive of the President’s Office.
While the state Aasandha Company had previously managed the hospital, details of its management will be released to the press next week, the permanent secretary said.
The Aasandha Company spent MVR 193 million on the hospital’s development and services since 2016, after President Abdulla Yameen ordered that the hospital be managed by the company.
In the past two years, the hospital has seen significant improvement in services, particularly in oncology.
