State efforts to control the spread of dengue fever in the past two weeks have been successful, said the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

The agency said that while efforts to control spread of the fever have been successful, there have been increased reports of diarrhea and vomiting.

The HPA began its efforts to control the spread of dengue in capital city Malé and the outlying islands last October, and a special committee has been founded.

The committee comprises of representatives from the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, the Maldives Red Crescent, Aasandha Company, the Local Government Authority, and several other non-government organizations.

This committee, established on November 14th, is tasked with controlling the spread of dengue and illnesses that cause symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. They have also been running awareness programs across the country.
