Former President Mohamed Nasheed has on Sunday returned to Maldives after his trip to Katowice of Poland to attend the 24th summit of the UN Conference of the Parties (COP) representing Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
While Nasheed departed to Poland on the 05th of December, he had attended a Climate Vulnerable Forum event held there, where he addressed the growing dangers of climate change on Maldives.
At the summit, the former President had stated that the Maldives “has no intention of dying” due to the threat and risks of climate change on Maldives, a small island state. He also said that the Maldives is ready to combat the impacts.
The former President had also urged industrial nations to acknowledge its dangers to all small island states across the globe.
Alongside Nasheed, Minister of Environment and Energy Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan also joined the summit to speak on climate change.
