President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed two deputy ministers, one to the Ministry of Education and another to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

President Solih appointed Sharma Naseer as Deputy Minister of Education and Ahmedhullah Jameel as Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs on Tuesday.

While both Sharma and Jameel are the first to be appointed as Deputy Ministers at their respective Ministries, the Ministries currently have only one Minister of State each.

The total State Ministers appointed after President Solih assumed office in November is 42 and the total of Deputy Ministers reaches 34.

The monthly salary of a Deputy Minister is MVR 35,500, which is MVR 20,500 as basic salary and MVR 15,000 as allowance.

State Ministers get a monthly salary of MVR 32,000 and an added allowance of MVR 15,000, earning MVR 47,000 in total.
