A sewerage system is to be installed in Feridhoo island of Alif Alif atoll in 2019, states President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
President Solih’s arrival in the island on Monday afternoon was warmly welcomed by the island residents.
While Feridhoo is the third island the President has arrived in as part of his nation-wide tour since assuming office in November, President Solih had stated that sewer systems are a basic necessity and assured island residents that a sewer system will be installed in the island in 2019.
“The installment of a sewer system in the island is one of the most basic rights. Floating sewerage on the island’s water surface has brought dangers to the health of young children. Residents of this island are using sewer water to bathe and clean. With the will of god we will begin the installation of sewer systems in Feridhoo island in 2019. The project will be funded by the state budget for 2019” assured President Solih.
Stating the his government’s top priority is to guarantee basic rights to citizens, President Solih stated that he is listening to the pleas of Feridhoo residents as well.
Assuring that the government will not show negligence in guaranteeing basic rights to Feridhoo residents, President Solih said that the government will treat every citizen equally.
President Solih first arrived in Ukulhas island of the same atoll on Monday morning where he was warmly greeted.
As part of his visit to Feridhoo, the President is scheduled to meet the people of the Island and take a tour of the island as well.
