Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Maldives Rear Admiral Akhtar Habib has on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The President’s Office shared details of the meeting via its official website on Wednesday.

RaajjeMV understands that the meeting took place at the President’s Office and President Solih had thanked Ambassador Habib for paying the visit as well as the “good wishes” from the government and people of Bangladesh.

Expressing interest to further strengthen the existing relations between both countries, President Solih shed light on the strong bilateral ties that have been existing between Maldives and Bangladesh for a long period of time. He further noted that both countries have “enjoyed many years of mutual trust and understanding” ever since diplomatic relations have been established.

During the call President Solih assured Ambassador Habib of his “commitment to work closely” with the government of Bangladesh, in order to “enhance collaborations in areas that are of mutual benefit” to both countries.

He further expressed his gratitude towards the government of Bangladesh for their “continued support and assistance” provided to the people and government of Maldives.

President’s Office also reported that Ambassador Habib during his call congratulated Solih on the commencement of his term and went on to discuss ways to “reinforce the longstanding bilateral relations” between Maldives and Bangladesh.
