Six arrested over robbery at BML's Villingili branch

Six individuals have been arrested in connection to the robbery at national Bank of Maldives branch in Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll, Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed.

Media official at the MPS revealed that the six individuals were arrested under an operation held with the intelligence department. The official had however, not disclosed details about the arrested.

RaajjeMV understands that the six were arrested under a court order.

Police revealed that the robbery was reported to them close to 6am on Monday and that the robbers had evidently removed parts of the roof of the building and entered through the opening.

Although the amount stolen has not been detailed, RaajjeMV understands that the police have confiscated the amount in hefty bundles.

The single storey building is located in an open compound.
