A young swimmer has been found dead in Addu City on Sunday.

18-year-old Ahmed Jaishan had gone missing while swimming with friends in the Addu City Maradhoo-Hithadhoo causeway area.

The defence force stated that they received the missing persons report at 2:43pm and that when the coastguard found him at 4:00pm, he had been unresponsive.

Doctors at Hithadhoo Regional Hospital pronounced him dead-on-arrival.
