State reduces MVR six million from the estimated budget for 2019 for the incoming President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s official residence.
The budget being reviewed by Parliament currently shows that a total of MVR 37.8 million is being spent by the state for incumbent President Abdulla Yameen's official residence this year. However, the budget for Solih's residence has been significantly reduced to MVR 31.5 million.
According to the budget for 2019 that has been sent for review at Parliament, MVR 6.3 million has been reduced from the budget for Solih's official residence compared to the expenses of President Yameen's residence.
A budget of MVR 2.5 million has been allocated for the official residence of Vice President-elect Faisal Naseem.
It is yet to be decided where the President-elect, Solih and Vice President-elect Naseem will be living after they take oath of office on the 17th of November. However, Muleeaage and Hilaaleege were allocated as the official residences for outgoing President Yameen.
