Maduvarri MP Mohamed Ameeth has said that the pro-government faction of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) is pinning false allegations against the Elections Commission (EC) members.
In a tweet on Friday night, Ameeth said some members of the ruling party have filed a police report making allegations against some EC members based on false statements.
Ameeth accused them of defaming the EC members after refusing to accept defeat in the presidential election.

After President Abdulla Yameen began accusing the EC of rigging the election following his defeat, his party PPM said that it would file a police report against the commission members.
The Supreme Court has rejected President Yameen’s request to annul the election result.
