A case has been filed at the police over three senior employees of state media PSM defaming journalist Ahmed Afzal.

The case is over PSM’s managing director Ibrahim Khaleel, deputy managing director Ikram Abdul Latheef, and director of news Fayaz Yusuf allegedly defaming Afzal, who also works at the TV station.

Speaking to the media, Afzal, who had worked at PSM for 15 years, said that he had been penalized at work in a way that had defamed him.

Claiming that he was falsely accused of theft while he was on a hajj pilgrimage and was transferred to another department, Afzal said that his multiple letters requesting details of the accusations against him have been ignored.

Afzal, who had been the senior editor of the PSM newsroom, was penalized on August 27 and his position was changed to presenter/producer of Radio Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu.
