Maldives army wins silver medal in Pakistan's PACES Championship 2018

The championship began on 8th October and ended on the 14th, with 19 countries taking part

The Maldives National Defence Force’s (MNDF) team competing in this year’s International Pakistan Army Physical Agility and Combat Efficiency System (PACES) has won a silver medal.

The team was given a congratulatory welcome upon their return to the Maldives on Wednesday, in a function led by Chief of Defence, Major General Ahmed Shiyam, and his deputy, Brigadier General Ahmed Shahid.

The MNDF had also held a special function at their headquarters in capital city Malé, the Kalhuthukkala Koshi. Officers of every rank had participated in the event.

The championship began on 8th October and ended on the 14th, with 19 countries taking part. 9 veteran officers as well as two reserve officers made up the Maldivian team.

Corporal Hussain Fazeel, of the MNDF, had come third in the mini marathon event. The championship also included a 3.2 kilometer run, a pull ups event, a sit ups event, a fire ring event, as well combat efficiency tests.
