Officers of the Maldives Police Service have on Wednesday, destroyed a large amount of confiscated alcohol from the police station in Gan island of Laamu atoll.

According to the MPs, the alcohol bottles were destroyed inside the station’s courtyard on the 03rd of October.

Police had destroyed 123 bottles of alcohol of different brands, six cans of beer, a PET bottle containing alcohol and a plastic bottle containing beer.

RaajjeMV understands that these items have been in police possession since 2016, and were confiscated from tourists in 77 different operations conducted in Kahdhoo island’s Airport in the same atoll.

It has been confirmed that said items were destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police committee

The items were destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police committee assembled to take over such cases. It is also notable that officers at the police station in Ungoofaaru island of Raa atoll, had also destroyed a large amount of confiscated alcohol in the island, in early July.
