Maldives High Court carries the jurisdiction to observe and investigate matters relating to the country’s Presidential Election

High Court of the Maldives has announced that it will be remain open on Saturday and Sunday, for elections complaint registration.

According to the court, in order to pave a convenient way for all to file complaints regarding the election, they will be open from 2pm to 10:30pm on Saturday, and 8am to 12am on Sunday.

Maldives High Court carries the jurisdiction to observe and investigate matters relating to the country’s presidential election. Contesting candidates, political parties, observers and monitors as well as supervisors and organizers active throughout the election process may submit their complaints to the court through forms which are to be made available for download through its official website.

The court further stated that those that wish to submit forms during unofficial hours, can contact the registration window to proceed or send emails to [email protected], to which the officials at the High Court will respond accordingly.

Highlighting that the most important thing to note while submitting their complaints is making sure that all of the information has been gathered, all the documents relating to the complaints is in order and the reason why the complaint was submitted is also confirmed.

The duration in which complaints may be submitted as stated under the law is 14 days since the final results of the poll are announced. High Court informs that all of the complaints submitted within the 14 days must be investigated and concluded within 30 days since the announcement of the final poll results.
