Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has revealed that the man stabbed in Dhuvaafaru island of Baa atoll on Saturday night has received treatment from the hospital.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, media official at IGM Hospiital stated that the man, about 21 years of age, was brought to the hospital for further treatment on Sunday evening.
The official revealed that he has now undergone an operation and that he has been admitted to the surgical ward of the hospital since, adding that it is yet difficult to ascertain whether or not his condition is improving as he was stabbed in four places, twice in his stomach and two in the sides of his body. When the man was taken to the health center in Dhuvaafaru, he had been bleeding heavily and the bleeding had not stopped even after treatment.
Following no improvement to his condition, he had also been taken to the atoll’s regional hospital for further treatment to no avail. He was then brought to the capital city Male’ to seek further treatment, on Sunday.
A member from the island's council told RaajjeMV that the stabbing took place near the council office after a dispute between two individuals belonging to the same gang at around 12am on Sunday, the council member further noted that officers of the Maldives Police Service are active in the island.
Police media official revealed that they had received information of the stabbing at 12:45am and that they are conducting investigations into a case of assault.
