Ibrahim Raai Rasheed, Maldives trade representative to Philippines has been suddenly been dismissed following his father's decision to endorse Joint Opposition's presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

He was dismissed on Sunday, via a letter by the President's Office.

The dismissal comes two days after his father, Mohamed 'Hiyaly' Rasheed- a close associate of the incumbent president- officially endorsed the opposition's candidate in the upcoming election.

Changing his social media profile image to one with Solih, he had tweeted the number 'two' which is his candidate number. His cover photo was changed to that of former first couple, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Nasreena Ibrahim.

While Rasheed has officially endorsed Solih, he recently met with opposition leader, former President Mohamed Nasheed, in Sri Lanka. Photos of the meeting had circulated on social media as well.
