Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has asserted that incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s five-year term is perceived by citizens as one that crumbling.
Jameel, Yameen's running mate in the 2013 presidential elections, took his criticism of the current regime to twitter in the early hours of Saturday, via a tweet typed out in Dhivehi.
Translation of his tweet reads that not a single person has interest in the regime of President Yameen and that there isn’t a single person “good enough” affiliated with the government. Jameel further stressed that President Yameen’s own brother, now jailed former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has also left his side.
While Gayoom, President Yameen’s half-brother has since been convicted of obstruction following the Supreme Court ruling issued on the 01st of February which was followed by a nation-wide state of emergency.
Dr. Jameel continues his assertion that the current administration is wrought by theft and corruption.
Describing all those affiliated with the government as “rusted rods”, Jameel said that the “entire ship is rusting”.
