Joint Opposition’s vice-presidential candidate Faisal Naseem has left for a campaign trip to Malaysia.
He is being accompanied by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) chairperson Hassan Latheef, North-Galolhu MP Eva Abdulla, MDP’s deputy chairperson Ali Shiyam, MDP’s policy committee’s chair Hussain Amru, and senior members of Jumhooree Party (JP).
During his trip, running mate Faisal will be meeting with Maldivian students in Malaysia and hearing their concerns. He will also be hosting a special panel discussion with Maldivians living in the country.
RaajjeMV understands that religious scholar Ilyas Hussain of Adhaalath Party (AP) will also be joining the discussion. While sheikh Ilyas is already in Malaysia, the Maldives police service has issued a summons for him.
After beginning their presidential campaign, the opposition coalition aimed to travel to every Maldives island to meet with island residents and hear their concerns. Senior coalition members have also travelled abroad to visit Maldivian communities in other countries.
Joint Opposition’s presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has visited Maldivians living in neighboring Sri Lanka and Faisal has met with Maldivians in India.
