Tsunami loans will be pardoned: Solih
'Interest rates must have spiked for those loans'
Solih is currently on a campaign tour across Alif Alif atoll

Joint Opposition Coalition’s Presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to pardon the loans taken by families affected by the 2014 tsunami.

Speaking to residents in Mathiveri island of Alif Alif atoll on Thursday, Solih stated that he is aware that the loans taken by everyone effected by the tsunami in 2014 must have a skyrocketed interest by now.

“Interest rates must have spiked for those loans. The coalition today announces that these loans will be pardoned during it’s tenure” said Solih.

Highlighting that he intends to travel to all inhabited islands in Alif Alif atoll during his campaign tour, Solih repeated his pledge to establish water and sewerage systems in the islands. As such, Solih pledged to establish water and sewerage systems in Feridhoo, Maalhos, Himandhoo as well as improving the health services being provided in outlying atolls as well as the education system.
