Joint Opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has visited a hundred islands since his campaign began.
Candidate Solih visited HA. Baarah on Friday, making it his 100th campaign trip to an island.
Solih has been visiting islands with low and high populations since being elected as the candidate for the opposition coalition parties.
He visited every one of the 100 islands, except Addu and Fuvahmulah cities, after he submitted his application for September’s election, which was on July 26.
He has received warm welcomes from every island, where he met with the locals and councilors and heard their concerns. He also held campaign events at the islands and spoke about the issues and revealed his pledges.
His running mate Faisal Naseem has visited 76 islands, which makes the total islands visited to 176.
During his trips, Solih pledged to establish basic services in all the islands, including water supply and sewerage systems. He also pledged to expand the local guesthouse businesses and give out loans for housing development in the islands.
