Over 20 teachers from Iskandar School in the capital city Male’ have met with Maldives Joint Opposition coalition’s Presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and showed their solidarity with him for the upcoming Presidential Election slated for 23rd September.

More than 20 teachers from Iskandar School had met the opposition Presidential candidate at the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s campaign site in the capital city on Tuesday. MDP had not revealed the discussions held during Solih’s meeting with the teachers.

It is notable that these teachers have come forward to meet with the opposition candidate while his running mate Faisal Naseem had called on the public to not remain in fear of losing their employment and to rise above the fear to join the opposition’s reform movement.

While the meeting took place in the capital city, it has been perceived that teachers and civil servants in the outlying atolls have also stepped forward and expressed their solidarity with Solih and Naseem during their campaign trips across the nation which had concluded altogether this week.

The Joint Opposition Parties have revealed within their campaign that they will restore employment for those who have been sacked from their posts for their political leanings and that if jobs of employees are transferred, their original posts will be returned to them once the opposition comes into power.
