The broadcasting commission has summoned RaajjeTV for allegedly not giving equal time to the presidential candidates.
In a letter to the privately-run TV station, the commission said it is investigating a case where RaajjeTV has allegedly ignored the set procedures on giving all candidates equal opportunity on air.
After being summoned on Sunday morning, senior RaajjeTV staff told the commission members that they have already publicized their procedures on giving air time to the candidates.
TV stations are required to publicize their rates on giving air time and equal opportunity to all candidates.
While the presidential election is on September 23, the broadcasting commission has been ceaselessly working to find faults in RaajjeTV, which is currently paying off the recent MVR 2 million defamation fine.
The broadcasting commission has fined the TV station three times before and the total amount has reached MVR 3.7 million.
