Opposition coalition’s Presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s running mate, Faisal Naseem departed to neighboring India on Saturday evening, as part of their campaign.

Naseem is on a three-day trip, departing from Velana International Airport on Saturday evening,

He is accompanied by senior officials of the Maldives Joint Opposition, including main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s deputy chairperson Ali Niyaz, Jumhooree Party’s vice president Dr. Abdulla Mausoom as well as Aminath Nadhira from the Maumoon Reform Movement (MRM), created by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s break-away faction of ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM)

During the trip, Naseem and team will be meeting with Maldivians residents in India. 

The opposition vice-presidential candidate is scheduled to meet with front-runners of the opposition campaign in Trivandrum, India later on Saturday evening.

Door-to-door campaign activities have also been planned in order to check on the living conditions of Maldivian residents in Trivandrum, which is scheduled for Sunday morning.

In addition, Naseem and team are to meet with residents in Trivandrum on Sunday at 05:00 p.m. India time, at the Ruby Arena.

Members of the Joint Opposition, including candidate and running mate, have been tirelessly carrying out campaign activities across the country, and candidate Solih has even traveled to Singapore and Sri Lanka as part of the campaign.

With this having been said, this is the vice-presidential candidate’s first trip abroad since being elected as Solih’s running mate.

Opposition officials had even met with Maldivian residents in Bangalore as well as Trivandrum during the start of July, when their campaign had officially kicked off, as well.
