Joint Opposition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has noted that youth facilities are severely lacking in Hulhuamalé, the capital city’s fast-growing urban extension.

Solih said this while answering questions posed by journalists at a barbeque event held in Hulhumalé on Friday night.

“There isn’t even a field for the youth to play sports here, a basketball was built only to have it demolished on the grounds that those using it did not support the government. There is so much that can be done in Hulhumalé”, Solih said.

Further, Solih said that any projects run under the opposition coalition’s ‘united government’ will have mechanisms in place to make it wholly corruption free.

“Our projects will be run without room for corruption or graft. Whether it be housing, urban infrastructure, or health facilities”, Solih said.

Solih is contesting September's ballots for the Joint Opposition, a coalition of parties united against the alleged corruption and tyranny of incumbent President Abdulla Yameen.
