Maldives National Defence Force has launched a search for a missing man from Lhohi island of Noonu atoll.

MNDF said that its maritime rescue coordination center received a report of a missing vessel at around 2am on Wednesday night, adding that a 30-year-old male was traveling in the vessel at the time it went missing. MNDF identified him as Hussain Adnan from Fehivina house in Lhohi island.

The vessel is to have left Lhohi island at around 10:30pm that night and was last contacted at around 1:30am. The vessel was in-between Lhohi and Manadhoo islands at the time.

MNDF detailed the design of the vessel, which is 15-foot in length with a light blue stripe on the outside and six-horsepower outboard Suzuki engine.

While the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) predicts scattered showers and thunderstorms over the country, it has advised on all seafarers to be cautious of rough seas especially during showers.
