A hefty number of narcotics submerged in the water off Filitheyo island of Faafu atoll, has been discovered.
RaajjeMV understands that the narcotics were discovered by a group of individuals who had set off for fishing from Feeali island in the same atoll.
The submerged drugs have since been handed over to the Maldives Police Service (MPS), officers stationed in Feeali.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, MPS revealed that they seized a large quantity of drugs submerged in sea in an operation carried out after receiving intel reports of drugs being hidden underwater in the area.
The operation was conducted with the cooperation of officers stationed in the atoll.
The police institution has not disclosed exactly how much narcotics were recovered underwater.
It has been confirmed that the recovered narcotics are currently in police custody.
The case is under further investigation.
