Spokesperson of opposition coalition’s Presidential hopeful, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Member of Parliament for North-Mahchangoalhi constituency Mariya Ahmed Didi has refuted rumors circulated by government official about him.

According to Mariya, fabricated stories are being circulated regarding the opposition candidate, especially by top government officials and incumbent President Abdulla Yameen as well. The MP accused them of 'fabricating quotes and claiming that they were made by Solih.

While Mariya has stated that Solih had recently become victim to such rumors, she had not elaborated on what these were. However, President Yameen had during his trip to Huvadhoo atoll earlier this week, criticized the opposition candidate for allegedly pledging to install sewer systems, in islands in which his administration had already installed sewer systems.

“Moreover, owners and employers of companies like STO, MTCC, MNDF circulate these stories among their employees. They are telling their employees that a government run by the Maldives Joint Opposition will dismiss them from their posts. We are not talking about reducing jobs for citizens in a unity government. We are talking about increasing job opportunities for them” said Mariya.

The MP assured that the opposition does not plan to dismiss anyone from their posts, assuring that a convenient way will be paved for more job opportunities for citizens.
