JP council member Aisha commends RaajjeTV and its 'courageous team'

This is the fourth fine against the station

The commission slammed Raajje Television with a fine of MVR 2 million

Aishath Nahula, a member of the opposition Jumhooree Party’s council, has commended Raajje Television and its team for their courage and steadfastness.

In an interview with the station ahead of leaving to Alif Dhaal atoll on a campaign trip, Nahula said that the state imposition of a hefty fine against Raajje Television is disappointing.

The commission slammed Raajje Television with a fine of MVR 2 million, its fourth fine against the station. The fine was imposed on the grounds of defamation, over comments made by a protester at a rally broadcast live by the station.

This is the fourth fine against the station, the station was first fined in March 2017, also under anti-defamation laws.

RaajjeTV in its statement said that the fines are targeted attacks against the station with no legal basis.
