President Abdulla Yameen’s questions will be answered on September 23, says opposition coalition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Solih said this in response to a journalist who asked about the many questions that President Yameen has recently aimed at him.
President Yameen had heavily criticized Solih and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) at Sunday’s ceremony where he received the ruling party ticket to contest the presidential election. He said that Solih should come forward and answer the questions people have for him and to guarantee that what happened during MDP’s government would not happen again.
Responding to the journalist on Monday after arriving in Male’ after his Baa atoll trip, Solih said that President Yameen should wait until September 23 to have his questions answered and that he should also accept the will of the people on that day.
Solih said that he is aware of what happened during the MDP government and that the citizens know very well what state the current government is in.
Regarding his campaign trip to Baa atoll, Solih said that he discussed with island councils and residents on what they needed and that his pledges to the islands can be fulfilled well within the state budget.
He added that the citizens became confident that the work of the opposition is noble once they have banded together into a coalition.
