Substances suspected to be narcotics seized from man
Maldives Police Service has arrested a 22-year-old man in connection to a narcotics related case in Shaviyani atoll Funadhoo.
The arrest was made on Friday night following an intelligence report received by the police that the man was planning to smuggle narcotics into Funadhoo.
The 22-year-old had evidently been arrested when he went to a boat that docked at Funadhoo from Male’, to collect a package inside which the police upon confiscation found 45 pieces of cellophane-wrapped substances suspected to be narcotics.
The man has been remanded for 15 days by the Shaviyani atoll Feydhoo Magistrate Court.
