President Yameen's running mate finds himself in hot water following tweet 'with youth'

President Abdulla Yameen’s running mate for the upcoming elections Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed found himself in hot water after tweeting a photo “with the youth”.
The photo, tweeted on Friday, shows him with a group of young men, all smiling, with the caption “we are the youth, we are with the youth”.
However, twitter user @realMammu (Mohamed Mashooq Marzooq) was quick to point out the reality of the photo, saying that the photo was taken in April 2016 during the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM)’s chancellor’s visit to Egypt.
Noting that those in the photo were studying there at the time, Marzooq highlighted that “this photo was not taken for any political purposes”.
Noting that that his friends had not taken the photo to show support for President Yameen’s running mate, he said that they are “unhappy” that they are being depicted as such.
In a second tweet, Marzooq attached a photo of a post on IUM’s official Facebook account, showing Shaheem with the same young men all dressed in the same outfits as on the photo he had shared.
While Marzooq’s tweet gained a lot of attention with over 200 retweets and likes, Dr. Shaheem has since deleted his original post.
