Surgeon's negligence in operation of Maldivian patient in India stirs outrage
The 12-year-old was admitted in hospital on 02nd July and the operation was conducted on the 03rd

Surgeons at GG Hospital of Trivandrum India have performed an operation on the wrong leg of a sickly Maldivian patient who was admitted for a ligament surgery on the 02nf of July.

Following this, many have fired heavy criticism and discontent towards the hospital for negligence.

The 12-year-old’s father is native to Alif Alif atoll Thoddoo island west of capital city Male’ and the mother is an Indian national.

Speaking to Indian media outlets, the concerned mother said that her child was admitted on the 02nd of July to undergo a ligament surgery on his left leg after doctor’s recommendation. The mother said that the surgery was done on the wrong leg under the negligence of the hospital, adding that they had found out it was the wrong leg when the child had told them.

According to the mother, while the child’s operation was done on Tuesday, the family had used Aasandha services to make the payment of Rp 150,000 for the surgery.

According to Indian media, following the incident of negligence, officials of the hospital had apologized and asked the family to keep the matter under wraps.

Since the issue has surfaced, some had even gathered by the Hospital premises to protest against the hospital.

Relevant authorities are currently looking into the matter.
