Parliament accepts five bills for consideration
The bills were accepted without much deliberation at Monday's sitting

At Monday's parliamentary sitting, five bills have been accepted and sent to the relevant committees for evaluation.

The bills were accepted without much deliberation.

Pro-government Faresmaathodhaa MP Mohamed Latheef's bill proposed to bring amendments to the laws and regulations regarding parliamentary elections. The bills proposed by Gemanafushi MP Jameel Usman is regarding amendments to the laws on the protection of children’s rights and amendments to the Political Parties Act. The bills proposed by MP for Feydhoo constituency Ibrahim Didi is regarding amendments to the Criminal Procedures Act as well as amendments to the Drugs Act.

There were 27 members present during the voting process, since the opposition MPs had boycotted Monday's sitting, similar to the previous ones.

The opposition has been boycotting sittings since 2017, after the parliament threw out a motion of no-confidence against pro-government Speaker Abdulla Maseeh that had signatures of 45 MPs.
