Four days after reconstruction of Faresmaathodaa island’s harbour, a chunk off of the island’s breakwater has fallen off.

Nasrulla Mohamed, the chair of the Gaafu Dhaal atoll island’s local government council, told RaajjeMV that the breakwater has now been repaired by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company.

Nasrulla said that he has been told that the damage to the breakwater was caused by dredging of the area to extend the harbour.

The project to extend the harbour from 770 feet to a total of 1,270 feet began seven months ago.
