Three of the four suspects apprehended in a case of assault with a deadly weapon have been remanded until sentencing, by the magistrate court in Gan of Laamu Atoll.

This Sunday, the police reported that a ‘young man’ had been attacked with a machete by a number of people in an incident at Fonadhoo island of the same atoll.

The incident was reported to the police at about 19:40 on Sunday, and the man had sustained injuries to parts of his lower body.

Eye witnesses said that the man was attacked by a group of assailants, and that the man was ‘injured in two places on his leg’.

He was treated at the medical centre in Fonadhoo before being taken to the hospital in Gan, the atoll’s capital.
