MP Ahmed Mahloof, who is facing criminal allegations, has arrived in the Maldives.
Mahloof was living in Sri Lanka for the past four months, at a time of political turmoil in the country.
He announced his return on Wednesday in a tweet.
He said he was happy to be back with his family, friends, and especially the “freedom fighters,” and shared a poem in Dhivehi.

Mahloof’s grandmother is receiving treatment at ADK Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
The police service is investigating him on allegations of obstructing the duties of security officials at the parliament building on 31 July 2017.
His passport had been confiscated earlier regarding the case.
