Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan is in the Maldives ahead of his 75th birthday, which he announced he would not be celebrating.
Photographs posted online show that the legendary actor and his wife Jaya Bachchan arrived in the country on Tuesday.

They were accompanied by daughter Shweta Nanda, son Abhishek Bachchan, and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.
Bachchan told followers of his official blog that ‘he would not be’ in India for his 75th birthday or celebrate Diwali, the Hindu ‘festival of lights’, on October 19th.
“No, there is no celebration of any kind for the 75th and there's no possibility of my presence here in the city” the post said.
Indian newspapers accredited this to the recent death of Krishnaraj Rai, his daughter in law’s father, whose birthday also falls within the week.
