The State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation (State Pharma) has assured the public that essential medication for thalassemia patients is available, following concerns raised by parents regarding shortages at the company's pharmacies.
Following reports of difficulties in procuring Desferal, a medication essential for children requiring blood transfusions, RaajjeTV’s "Fashaairu" program contacted the state pharmacy to address the shortage.
When questioned regarding the matter, the company stated that the medication is currently in stock, though it is only available through the Thalassemia Center.
However, a parent informed RaajjeMV that the medication remained unavailable even after visiting the Thalassemia Center.
Desferal is an injectable medication administered to thalassemia patients to regulate and prevent the accumulation of excess iron in the blood.
