Zakat Fund Receipts Surpass MVR 109 Million in Nine Months

This figure includes more than $34,000 in foreign currency, and total collections are projected to rise further by year-end following recent administrative improvements that have streamlined the Zakat payment process.


Regarding the collection of Zakat al-Fitr during the month of Ramadan in the year 1445 AH.
The Maldives Zakat Fund has achieved significant growth in the first nine months of this year, with total collections already surpassing the entire annual revenue recorded for 2023. This substantial increase serves as a key indicator of the growing commitment among citizens and businesses to fulfill their religious obligation of Zakat al-Mal.
According to the latest official statistics, the Zakat Fund received a total of MVR 109,262,025.69 as Zakat al-Mal (Zakat on Wealth) between January 1 and September 30, 2024.
This figure represents an increase of MVR 2,805,954.69 compared to the MVR 106,456,071.00 collected by the state as Zakat throughout the entirety of 2025.
With this development, revenue for the first nine months of this year has risen by approximately 2.64 percent compared to the total revenue generated throughout the entirety of last year.
As revenue for the Zakat Fund continues to grow, these funds play a vital role in supporting the categories of beneficiaries mandated by Islamic Sharia. Specifically, the fund serves as a crucial resource for assisting the poor and needy, as well as providing essential financial aid to individuals facing difficulties in accessing medical treatment.
